Ajax Downs Selections July 30

We finish the month at Ajax with a big card. Two trials for the Adequan Derby Challenge, a qualifying race for the Adequan Derby Challenge Championship at Prairie Meadows in October, and the second legs of the QROOI Sprint Series and Distance Series. Superstar Country Boy 123 starts from post #1 in the Distance Series race, which goes as Race 8. Here are my selections for today's card.

Race 1: 5-3-4
Welcome to Ajax Downs! #5 FAMES WINNER has shown nothing in three starts this year, all at much higher class levels where he was clearly outmatched. Last year when going through his allowance conditions he had a great season and this is a very sensible drop in class. #3 PURRFECT STORM was beaten a length 10 days ago in a Speed Index race topped by Rockin Miss Kitty. He was beaten a half length for second and should be competitive in this group. #4 IAMASWEETMAN broke inwards and bumped a foe in a NW2 allowance race last time out, finishing seventh of eight. That was a good bunch for that class level. He is a very win shy type but can grab a piece of it. The Daily Double starts here.

Race 2: 5-8-6
This race kicks off the early Pick 3. #5 CARNEROS was beaten a neck in the John Deere Juvenile Challenge. A rider error may have cost him the win, as Rene Gutierrez stopped riding in the late yards, but I think he was caught just as he stopped and would have just ended up second by a head instead of a neck. Regardless, he can leave the gates very well and gets a drop in class here. #8 FAST PRIZE GAL was a well beaten third in her debut. She had the rail post that day but was not loaded early as per usual. Today she draws outside and may improve with experience. #6 PEEPL R KRAZI is a daughter of Ivory James. She has shown improvement in her workouts this year.

Race 3: 2-5-6
#2 HOME ICE lugged inwards early and ended up finishing a good fourth in the OSS Derby last time out. As a two year old he was second in the OSS Futurity and fifth in the Alex Picov Memorial Futurity. If he gets away well he will be the one to beat. #5 KINDA LIKEA LOVESONG was a good third behind Rockin Miss Kitty and Upper Canada last time out in a Speed Index race. Although Rockin Miss Kitty is a respectable foe and this mare has been running well. she's a bit of a chronic losing type, with a one for 16 record in her career. #6 CHECK THE WINNER has been catching solid groups and has not been breaking well this year. Each one of his starts this year shows trouble at the start. With a clean break from the outside he could be competitive.

Race 4: 3-6-1
This race is the start of the $.20 Early Pick 4! #3 ROCKIN MISS KITTY took a couple starts to get going but managed to win last time out. She had a similar cycle last year, two starts that were okay but then a wake up in the third out that led to a very solid season. I think she can be competitive with this group. #6 LOOKIN TO BE ICONIC was third behind First Element last time out, losing place in the final jumps to Channelislandsflyer. Two back she was second behind Arctic Fame, beating Channelislandsflyer. A win candidate. #1 CHANNELISLANDSFLYER has been second or third in each of his five starts this year. It's pretty tough not to like him, he runs hard and grabs plenty of cheques along the way,

Race 5: 4-5-7
This is the first of two trials for the Adequan Ajax Downs Derby Challenge. #4 HICKERSON was put in a very tough spot, the first QROOI Distance Series race for his first start of the year and finished sixth. He's a big, leggy horse who I think definitely appreciates 400 yards as he showed last year, and should improve as he grows into himself. #5 DENALI TELLER OFF bested Hickerson in the Alex Picov Memorial Futurity last year. She won her 2017 debut in an optional claimer over Countrys Comin Bac and Speedocracy, a solid group. She should be favoured. #7 MRS FIRST LADY was an upset winner in the AQHA Challenge Maiden two back. Last time out she broke out and took a good bump, raced on the inside and was a fairly game fourth. She seems to like it here.

Race 6: 6-3-2
This is the second trial for the Adequan Ajax Downs Derby Challenge. #6 PEVES FREDDY B has two runs in Oklahoma this year, most recently winning at today's distance in a $20,000 claiming race. He was Stakes placed last year and the owner has brought him up here for these trials. #3 KONA CORONA has a win and a close second in two starts this year. He seems like he has potential to be a classy type and is one to consider. #2 MARYLAND MAGIC won his trial before finishing second in the AQHA Challenge Maiden. He then finished second behind Ms First Prize Pearl, a runner who I think has a lot of potential to do well here. He has two runs at 400 yards and they were both solid efforts down south. The late Pick 3 begins here.

Race 7: 6-9-10
This race is part of the QROOI Sprint Series going 220 yards. #6 EYESA ZOOMN was fourth by half a length in the first leg of this series at 110 yards. Last year is the 220 leg he was beaten a head by First Down the Track, who had a monstrous season. He goes for his second off the layoff and may be a bit overlooked. #9 ARCTIC FAME has turned into a killer this year, winning each of his four starts so far this season. He won the 110 yard dash two back then came right back a week later for a starter allowance score. We'll see if he can make it five straight. #10 ONE KOOL WAVE was second by a neck going 110 yards behind Arctic Fame in his first start of the year. He is a nine year old veteran who still runs very well in spite of his age The $.20 Late Pick 4 kicks off here!

Race 8: 4-1-6
This race is part of the QROOI Distance Series going 400 yards. #4 FAST MAN VIC is my flyer to try and beat Country Boy 123 because I don't want to take the 1-5 he'll probably be. I know this horse is probably best at 400-440 yards and I think he's better this season than last after having the winter off. If he breaks perfect he may get lucky. #1 COUNTRY BOY 123 is the obvious horse to beat. He broke the 300 yard track record in the Picov Maturity, he's the co-track record holder at 400 yards, and he's just been playing with his competition here. You don't need me to tell you he's the most likely winner. #6 SHOOTIN SIXES has been a good distance horse in Wyoming, Idaho and Nevada in recent years. He made his first local start ten days ago, cutting back to 350 yards and running a pretty good fourth despite hopping at the start. This spot is obviously very tough but this is a horse to watch for when he finds an easier race at 440.

Race 9: 4-2-7
#4 BY ROYAL APPOINTMENT has raced three times and is yet to beat a horse. He added blinkers last time out which I think should help, but that was the OSS Derby and he drew the rail. Today he gets a reasonable group of maidens and may run better. #2 EYESA DEXTER was third (placed second) behind the very impressive Yournotthebossofme two starts back but was a disappointment last time out, finishing fourth of five as the 4-5 favourite. He should be able to get a share here. #7 ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOMIN BY had two decent second place finishes but didn't break well and finished ninth last time out in the Yournotthebossofme race. Much as she's improved this year, after the last race it's tough to be sold on her as the favourite from the betting standpoint but she should be competitive. The Late Double starts here.

Race 10: 8-6-4
#8 ICONIC SHIFT broke out and bumped a foe at the start, managed to make the lead but was caught late to lose by a neck in his first run of 2017. He could be tough with a better break in his second start of the year. #6 WAGER ON ME finished a close second behind well meant first time starter One Kool Korona last time out. So far at Ajax she has a second and three thirds in four starts. #4 FAST STREAKIN NICK had three runner up finishes to kick off his Ajax campaign. Last time out he had to settle for third behind Gogo Jangles, who returned to win again last week. He should be a factor.

Good luck and thank you to everyone joining us today!

Ajax Downs Selections July 23

Racing returns at Ajax today with a seven race card. Today's card is highlighted by a trio of trials for the Ontario Sires Stakes Futurity. 21 juveniles have been entered and it's a difficult set of races as only one of those 21 starters have a race under their belt. Here are my selections for today's card.

Race 1: 1-4-2
Welcome to Ajax Downs! #1 NIGHT FISHN, a half sister to Stakes winner Ice Fishn, was checked early in her debut, a QROOI Overnight Series race for Ontario Sired maidens and was unable to recover. She ran a good figure in spite of it. She could improve second time out. #4 MR POLAR EXPRESS was outclassed in the OSS Maturity trials a few weeks back. He did qualify for the AQHA Challenge Maiden and has run a few decent races. #2 GEORGIES MAY KITTY exits a second place finish. She finished fourth in the Overnight series race and seems to be gradually improving. The Daily Double starts here.

Race 2: 2-4-1
This race begins the early Pick 3. #2 PASSUM LANE broke well and led throughout despite lugging in a bit and was under little to no urging late. If he gets out on top again he will do what he can to hold on. #4 ARCTIC LAKE finished fourth in his 2017 debut at this level. He was a winner second off the layoff last year and could repeat that. #1 RICH AND ON FIRE bumped a foe fairly soundly at the start last time out and finished an even fourth, beating two foes that were out of it the second the gate opened. His best effort can win this race but it's a case of whether or not he's at his best.

Race 3: 2-7-3
This is the first trial for the Ontario Sires Stakes Futurity! #2 A RECKLESS AFFAIR is by Fire Finder out of Reckless Wish, a mare who won her two year old debut and was Stakes placed as a juvenile. She posted a fairly quick gate work on June 21. #7 JESS TUFF had a quick gate work on June 28. His dam was a two year old winner who qualified to two futurities and finished second in the Alex Picov Memorial. #3 ELENORR is a full sister to Albertt, who despite being a bit of a slow developer ran very credibly in his two year old debut. She may be better than her workout times suggest.

Race 4: 1-2-6
This is the second trial for the Ontario Sires Stakes Futurity, as well as the start of the $.20 Pick 4! #1 HANOVER HILL STOLI is out of Ima Running Stoli, who was a two time winner as a two year old who qualified to the Grade 2 Mile High Futurity in Colorado. He has been working well. #2 JUNOIMZOOMIN is out of Jessshazoom, a decent two year old runner who raced until she was seven. She shows two quick gate works. #6 SMOAKN GUN showed improvement in his most recent workout. His dam, Jamies Gotta Gun, ran some decent races as a juvenile and won the Ajax Downs Maiden Stakes in 2013.

Race 5: 5-3-6
This is the third and final trial for the Ontario Sires Stakes Futurity! #5 ROYAL HATRICK is by Fire Finder out of Special Royal Takeon. Special Royal Takeon has produced two very nice runners in Now Is Forever and Embrace Extravagence. She has been working well and may be tough. #3 TOO MUCH WHITE exchanged a few bumps and raced a little greenly on debut. He has the advantage of race day experience. #6 HELLFIRES MISTRESS has gradually improved in her workouts. Her dam was a two year old winner who had a solid juvenile season. The late Pick 3 begins here.

Race 6: 7-5-4
This race offers Late Double wagering. #7 TRES FORTUNE bumped a foe at the start but ran a very credible third behind Fishn For a Corona, a horse who had already won a NW2, and One Dashin Rose, who ran a good third in the AQHA Challenge Maiden. He seems like a very honest trier. #5 GOGO JANGLES finished fourth in the AQHA Challenge Maiden. He came back with a good looking win. The race shows no time but I came up with a hand time that works out to a 90 speed index. He could double up here. #4 GRABIN AWARDS has only one win in 15 starts, but has hit the top three on nine occasions. He was in a very competitive field last time out and could grab a piece of it here.

Race 7: 7-2-6
#7 FISHN FOR A CORONA broke her maiden facing NW2 and came right back to beat NW2 again. She takes the next step and could very realistically keep her undefeated streak going. #2 A GAME DASHER scored a speed index win two back before running a very good second behind Rouge River Cartel, who is having a very good season. She has only missed the board once in her eight race career. #6 SITUATION CRITICAL took 2016 off but came back this year and has been close in each of her three starts so far. She's a hard trier and it wouldn't be surprising to see her find the winner's circle here.

Thank you and good luck to everyone joining us today!

Arrogate Wins Del Mar Match Race

Juddmonte Farms' Arrogate, the richest Thoroughbred in North American racing, was an easy winner in his match race over Wachtel Stable and Gary Barber's El Huerfano at Del Mar in San Diego on Saturday.

Winning the 1 1/16th mile contest in dominate fashion, Arrogate was 19 3/4 lengths in front of his competitor at the wire, extending his win streak to eight wins, including the 2016 Breeders' Cup Classic and 2017 Pegasus World Cup and Dubai World Cup. The four year old grey colt earned $18,000 for the win, increasing his record career earnings to $17,102,600.

It is worth noting that the race was run simultaneously with the Grade II San Diego Handicap, which was contested between Accelerate, Donworth and Cat Burglar.

Ajax Downs Selections July 16

Seven races this week at Ajax Downs and we have some good ones. A pair of QROOI Overnight Series dashes for maidens go in Races 3 and 4. The late double consists of the $62,950 Ontario Sires Stakes Derby and the $59,740 Ontario Sires Stakes Maturity. Here are my selections for today's card.

Race 1: 5-4-1
Welcome to Ajax Downs! #5 SHAKE SOME SUGAR was in a bit tight and was herded by another foe before being eased up on Canada Day. He returns quickly so I'm not worried about that effort and he raced huge to nearly beat No Cerveza For You on May 28th. #4 FLY FAST FOR KAYLEE was a winner on May 14 and finished a very credible fourth on June 11. He should always be considered a serious factor when he's in the Speed Index ranks. #1 WINNER ON A LARK was fractious in the gate and raced a bit greenly last time out. Also hurting her was a track that looked to be sloppiest on the inside, where she raced from that day. She's a capable mare who hasn't gotten much her way this year. The Daily Double starts here.

Race 2: 1-5-4
This race kicks off the early Pick 3. #1 FIRST ELEMENT exits a fifth place finish in a QROOI Distance Series race behind some very tough horses. He gets in easier here and probably needed the two starts he's made this year. #5 CHANNELISLANDSFLYER has been second or third in each of his four starts this year. He has been beaten by a couple of today's foes in these starts but could turn the tables on them. #4 LOOKIN TO BE ICONIC beat a decent field in a Speed Index race on June 4, then finished second behind the red-hot Arctic Fame last time out. If she gets out well she should be a factor.

Race 3: 1-4-6
This is a QROOI Overnight Series race for maidens. #1 FEARLESSLEE qualified to the AQHA Challenge Maiden but finished sixth. He has not broken sharply in his two starts at Ajax but has put in some big efforts in the States and should be tough if he breaks well. #4 ONE KOOL KORONA has shown significant improvement in her workouts this year from last year and makes her debut here. She is by multiple Grade 1 winning sire Carters Cartel and out of multiple Stakes winning dam One Kool Bud, who has produced champion One Kool Wave and Stakes winner Bye Me One Kool Bud. This may be a nice one. #6 STOLE MY VINO exits a third place finish behind a pair of Joe Tavares' Louisiana imports. I think she's an improved filly as a three year old but this looks like a tough spot.

Race 4: 5-2-9
This is a QROOI Overnight Series race for maidens, as well as the start of the $.20 Pick 4! #5 ICONIC SHIFT showed improvement as he gained experience last year. He has been working well this year prepping for his return to the races including a bullet work on July 5. He's a longshot to consider. #2 NORSE BAY took a left-hand turn at the start and kept going that direction, finishing second behind well-meant first timer Yournotthebossofme before being DQd. She has put in some good efforts and will hopefully keep a straight path this time. #9 BOLINGA debuted on June 25 with a close fourth place finish. She could improve with experience and has a bit of pedigree to her.

Race 5: 8-3-9
#8 MS FIRST PRIZE PEARL drew outside in her Ajax debut and took a sharp right hand turn at the start, costing her early ground. She finished up pretty well and could improve in her second start over the surface. Starting between horses should help her break straight. #3 MARYLAND MAGIC won his trial for the AQHA Challenge Maiden before finishing a good second in the final. It's tough to argue with his form since coming to Ajax. #9 HELLO STOLI drew outside and prevailed for the win last time out. He draws outside again and could repeat. The late Pick 3 begins here.

Race 6: 9-2-4
This race is the $62,950 Ontario Sires Stakes Derby! #9 GHOST PINES was a very impressive winner on opening day, but broke poorly and didn't seem to like the sloppy track when finishing second on June 4. I think she's a pretty nice filly, you just have to hope she breaks well. #2 HOME TO VEGAS was undefeated until he lost the rider after taking a bump at the start in the Alex Picov Memorial Futurity, but rebounded with an allowance win. He makes his first start of the year here and should be considered the one to beat. #4 LATER TATER was a close second last time out but was DQd for lugging out and bothering a foe. He was a close third behind Home to Vegas in last year's OSS Futurity. Late Double wagering is offered here.

Race 7: 8-3-6
Today's finale is the $59,740 Ontario Sires Stakes Maturity! #8 ALAKAZAAM was bounced in the early yards of his Picov Maturity trials and didn't recover, then dropped the rider at the start in his second start of the season. He finally got out clean in the trials for this race and was a very good second. If he's at his best he can win this race. #3 ALBERTT has gone from looking like a nice Speed Index horse to being the fastest qualifier for today's event. He beat Alakazaam in the trials and if he gets out good he could very well do it again. He's a real nice gelding who tries every time and wants to win. A serious candidate. #6 ICE FISHN took a bit of a stumble at the start but still finished up well and was third behind Albertt and Alakazaam in the trials. She won the OSS Futurity as a two year old and is worth some consideration in this spot.

Good luck and thank you to everyone joining us today!

Ajax Downs Selections July 9

Juvenile season kicks into gear this week at Ajax. We have our first Stakes event for two year olds today, the John Deere Juvenile Challenge, as well as a maiden event for the babies. We may be seeing some future stars today. Eight races on deck today, here are my selections.

Race 1: 7-2-5
Welcome to Ajax Downs! #7 SENATOR WOOT had trouble in her debut at Remington. She ran in the John Deere trials where she finished an okay fourth behind some decent horses. She may continue to move forward. #2 AJ CHICK IN 15 was claimed for $10,000 out of his most recent start, a second place finish at Remington. She worked well enough over the local surface on June 28. #5 WAVE REBEL is out of Seditious, a multiple Stakes winning dam. He worked 250 yards from the gate in 13.90 on May 24. The Daily Double starts here.

Race 2: 1-7-2
This race starts the early Pick 3. #1 ITZ ALL GOOD has made four starts this year and has faced some very tough foes including Albertt and Arctic Fame. He drops out of Starter Allowance company and should be a factor here. #7 CHUGGINGTON was narrowly beaten going 110 yards on May 14 but was a bit even in his most recent out two weeks ago. The group he faced last time looked tougher than this one. #2 SHESASTREAKINCHICK is winless since June 2015 but has been a fringe player at this level more recently. She could round things out.

Race 3: 1-7-4
#1 SWINGIN BEAR won his Ajax debut at 110 yards, ran a good enough fourth facing NW3 on May 28, but was outclassed and finished sixth at 110 again in the QROOI Sprint Series race. He gets back into a NW3 and would be worth a play at 10-1. #7 SITUATION CRITICAL came back after a layoff from the fall of 2015 and has run two big races, right there at the wire both times. She beat Swingin Bear and Cr Party With Corona last time, two of the foes she faces today. #4 ROUGE RIVER CARTEL was a convincing NW2 winner two back, then ran a good third behind Im Speedy and Kona Korona in a NW3. His form is good and there are good references out of all of his recent starts.

Race 4: 3-7-1
This race begins the $.20 Pick 4! #3 PYC TRICKIE LADY makes her first start of the year here, showing a quick gate move on June 21. She ran quite a few good races against respectable foes last year and may be ready to fire first off the bench. #7 FAST STREAKIN NICK has three local starts and three runner up finishes. This will be the first time he's drawn outside at Ajax which may help him. #1 GOGO JANGLES qualified to the AQHA Challenge Maiden and finished fourth by less than a length in the final. He gets in a bit easier here.

Race 5: 5-2-6
#5 GRABIN AWARDS ran a good third in the slop two weeks back in a race that produced next out winner Passum Lane. He gets off the rail for his second start off the bench and had an easy breeze this week. #2 ITTAKESTWOTOOTANGO had a win and two seconds in his first three starts but was roughed up in his final start of 2016. He worked from the gate back in April but did not post another work until this week past, going 220 yards in 12.40 from the pole. #6 EYESA WILD BOY has run well in his recent starts, with two thirds and second in some decent enough races lately. Although very win shy, just one for 18 in his career, he is one of several win candidates in this spot.

Race 6: 10-5-8
Today's feature is the $26,550 John Deere Juvenile Challenge! #10 ZOOMN BLUE is a full brother to the very classy Eyesa Zoomn. He drifted a bit and finished third on debut in the trials over a sloppy surface. He draws outside which could be an asset in this big field. #5 HAD TO BE IVORY was bumped at the start and got the better of Dianne Dynamite, a foe who already had race experience at Indiana, to win his trial. He draws in the middle and could be tough with a clean run. #8 SILKY SENATOR had two third place finishes in Oklahoma before finishing second in her trial. I'm thinking she may not have been as good over the slop as she would be over a fast track and that may be the difference maker for her today. The late Pick 3 starts here.

Race 7: 3-7-6
This Late Double starts here. #3 DEAL A FORTUNE finished third behind Country Boy 123 and Seis Zoom in the Picov Maturity trials then finished fifth in the final. Although he only went one for 10 last year he ran a lot of good race and is he gets out well here he has a shot. #7 SEIS ZOOM looks like the one beat. Second behind Country Boy 123 in her first start of the year and a good fourth in the Maturity final. She has held her own against solid competition before and has beat several of today's rivals. #6 VALIANT STOLI TIME also comes out of the Picov Maturity. He was a good fourth behind One Famous Glass, Fast Man Vic and Fiesty Icon in the trials before finishing seventh in the final. He is a capable horse and you may get a better price on him than my top two.

Race 8: 9-4-2
#9 EYESA DEXTER finished third behind a very impressive first timer, Yournotthebossofme in the QROOI Overnight Series Ontario Sired Maiden. He really seems to be on the improve in his recent starts. #4 GEORGIES MAY KITTY exits the same race where she finished fourth after a slow start. With a faster break she may be able to get the job done. #2 BEWITCHIN didn't show much in her debut as a two year old. She had a troubled trip in her only start this year on June 4. I don't know how much talent she has, but she hasn't gotten a chance to really show anything yet and she should be a longshot.

Good luck and thank you to everyone joining us today!

Ajax Downs Canada Day Selections

Happy Canada Day! Canada turns 150 years old today and the sport of horse racing has been around for 250 years on the day. We are celebrating at Ajax Downs today with a seven race card highlighted by a pair of trials to the Ontario Sires Stakes Maturity. Celebrate our great country with some Canadian racing! Here are my selections for today's card.

Race 1: 6-2-4
Welcome to Ajax Downs! #6 SCOUTING FOR ME has hit the board in each of his three starts this year, most recently second behind the very impressive Later Tater. Although still a maiden with 15 starts he looks tough here. #2 WINNERS PROSPECT has faced some tough U.S. imports in his recent starts. He drops back in to face Ontario Bred company where he has had most of his closer finishes. #4 BAC IN FIRST was a decent fifth last time out. She will use a flipping halter today, something she has used in the past but did not in her most recent start. The Daily Double starts here.

Race 2: 2-3-6
The early Pick 3 begins here. #2 LS PRINCE was eliminated at the start in a tough race on May 7 and was then deemed a non-starter after not receiving a fair start on June 4. With a clean break he could handle this group. #3 DEES BLACK DIMPLES was an okay fifth in her first start of the season. Her form in 2016 was better earlier in the year so she may be live now. #6 KINDA LIKEA LOVESONG was second behind Passum Lane last week. She was in a little tight early. She can be bad in the gate but should be competitive with a clean start.

Race 3: 7-6-3
#7 ANGELLES BABY TNT had a third in a QROOI Overnight series race for mares to kick off 2017 but had a rough trip last time out in the Distance series race. She takes a class drop here. #6 PANTHER HERO was a Stakes winning two year old and Stakes placed as a three year old. He managed to qualify for the Picov Maturity but finished last after breaking poorly. This is a much softer spot but he needs to break better. #3 SHAKE SOME SUGAR was narrowly beaten by No Cerveza For You last time out on May 28. A repeat of that effort makes her competitive once again.

Race 4: 3-6-1
This is the first of two trials to the Ontario Sires Stakes Maturity. It also kicks off the $.20 Pick 4. #3 FIESTY ICON was third behind One Famous Glass and Fast Man Vic in the Picov Maturity trials. Those two ended up being third and second respectively behind Country Boy 123 in the final. He is the defending OSS Maturity champion. #6 ALBERTT was a Speed Index race winner on May 7 and makes his return here. He was unlucky in his only try in a Stakes trial last year so we don't know how he fits but he is game. #1 HOPE RAMBLES ON was a winner on May 21 but did not get away well in a tough 110 yard race two weeks ago. She was a four time winner in nine starts last year and has won from the rail before.

Race 5: 6-10-5
This is the second of two trials to the Ontario Sires Stakes Maturity. #6 SPEEDOCRACY was a good third behind Denali Teller Off and Countrys Comin Bac in his first start of the year. He has been Stakes placed three times and is worth a look here. #10 DINAHLICIOUS was a good fourth in the OSS Maturity last year behind Fiesty Icon, Jesskissmytexas and Im Aquicktrick. Only Fiesty Icon is in this year's trials. She was a very good second behind Pegasos One Underpar on June 11 and makes her second start of the year here. #5 EYESA SPEEDY SIMON exits the same race as Speedocracy but was squeezed at the start and trailed the field. He qualified to this race last year and leads this field in earnings with over $96,000 in the bank. Late Pick 3 wagering is offered here.

Race 6: 9-5-3
The Late Double starts here. #9 ITSALLABOUTRAMBLIN was second to No Cerveza For You in the slop on June 18. He was game in some tough races last year and could be worth a look at a bit of a price. #5 DAYTONA 500 won her NW2 on October 10 but has caught some tough fields and hasn't had great starts in two tries this year. She gets back into her condition and is another option who may offer value. #3 HOME ICE finished second to Zoxtobeyou in his only start of the year so far. He was second in last year's Ontario Sires Stakes Futurity and although he is only a non-winner of two he could be a factor here.

Race 7: 8-5-1
#8 FISHIN FOR A CORONA was a winner facing non-winners of two in her first career start. She gets to run in the same condition again but this group is tougher than the last. We'll see what she can do. #5 ONE DASHING ROSE was an easy trial winner on June 4 before finishing a close third in the AQHA Challenge Maiden last time out. She moves from the rail to a gate that should be loaded late under normal circumstances. #1 MRS FIRST LADY broke her maiden in the AQHA Challenge Maiden last time out. She has a live chance to double up today.

Good luck and happy Canada Day!
